A whois search is a lookup in a public database of domain names. It usually lists three different contacts, the administrative contact (owner), the billing contact (accounts payable), and the technical contact (the web host). Sometimes for security, privacy, or size reasons all three contacts are the same. In order to run a search just type the domain name you are interested and it will run a search.
